We have a great set of coaches this year!  Below is a brief bio for each of them as well as their contact information (click their name to email)!

Head Coach

Paul Whitacker

Coach Paul has been living in Colorado for three years now, & has spent the past year and half coaching with Castle Rock Swimming (ROCK). Working primarily with swimmers ages 6-11, he's thrilled for the opportunity to extend his coaching ability further into the community with the Castle Crocs! Having been a long time competitive swimmer himself (15 years & still going), he feels swim coaching is the perfect medium to which he can provide effective and exciting approaches to the sport.

Hailing from Arizona, Paul began swimming at the age of 11. As a member of Scottsdale Aquatics Club, he competed with many top athletes in the nation at the time. Upon graduation from high school, Paul continued his swimming career into college. He attended Ball State University on a scholarship for swimming. As a NCAA Division 1-A school in the Mid American Conference, Paul was able to reach higher goals at the collegiate level. Needless to say, competitive swimming has given a lot to Paul, and he looks forward to every opportunity to give back to the sport.

For the past three years Paul has been an elementary school teacher. Working with students in the 5th grade (two years) and 1st grade, he has developed his coaching instruction to reflect effective teaching strategies. Providing effective explanations and visual examples of swimming strokes, Paul takes a progressive approach to stroke development, knowing each drill builds upon knowledge & practice of previous drills. Above all, however, Paul looks forward to providing swimmers with the most important characteristic of competitive swimming: SWIMMING IS FUN! Playing games that reinforce drills & getting opportunities to race in exciting atmospheres is what he enjoys.  He looks forward to the upcoming season!

Coach, Chris Hashimoto

I started swimming at age 8 at a local YMCA in Chicago.  I enjoyed the fun and the comradery of our team.  It was great for building self confidence.  However, studies, other interests and career became more important and I didn't swim for 35 years.  Finally, when living in a trailer, while the house was being built, I realized I had become a trailer slug and decided it was time to get back into shape and into the pool.  For the last 5 years I have been swimming with a Masters program and competing.  When young, I was told to swim harder, longer, faster and more.  Now I've decided it's better for me to swim smarter, with more efficiency, with better body mechanics, resulting in faster times and less injuries.

have been swimming with Castle Rock Masters under Coach Kevin for 4 months and am learning "how to swim."  I have learned techniques that weren't available during my formative years.  I hope to be able to pass on this knowledge to the Castle Rock Crocs, so others can experience a mastery of skills and improvement, while building self confidence and having fun.
